AUGUST WILSON CENTER FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA, 2000–03
Lord Cultural Resources was engaged in 2000 to initiate pre-development activities related to the development of a new August Wilson Center for African American Culture (formerly named African American Cultural Center of Greater Pittsburgh). The creation of the Center will focus on contributions of people of African descent and provide the region with a new landmark. Lord Cultural Resources assembled a talented, multi-skilled, culturally diverse, gender equal team of consultants with both national and local presence for this project. We established a fully staffed project office in Pittsburgh to liaise with our clients and manage the project. Lord Cultural Resources was further commissioned to complete the interpretive plan, concept design, program plan, architectural competition and business plan. The Center opened May 2009.
