BALL’S FALLS CENTRE FOR CONSERVATION
Jordan, Ontario, 2005–08
The Ball's Falls Conservation Area, operated by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA), is found atop of the Niagara Escarpment, a designated World Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The new Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation with LEED Gold Certification is nestled on a hilltop overlooking the site and is the gateway to the many experiences that visitors can explore at the site, serving as a catalyst to discovery, connection and understanding. Key components of a healthy watershed and strategies for adopting sustainable lifestyles are presented in a number of fun, hands-on and multimedia displays. Lord Cultural Resources, in partnership with Mystus Exhibits, was engaged to provide planning, design and curatorial services for this 1,500 sq. ft. gallery. The Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation opened its doors in May 2008.
