POINTE DU BOIS GENERATING STATION
Manitoba, 2007–08

Manitoba Hydro's Pointe du Bois hydroelectric station is the oldest continuously-operating generating facility and the first publicly-owned hydro development in the Province of Manitoba. Opened in 1911, the station's working life is coming to a close and Manitoba Hydro is considering options for the redevelopment of the site. As part of the options appraisal, Lord Cultural Resources in partnership with KGS Engineering and Scatliff + Murray + Miller Architects of Winnipeg was contracted to conduct a Heritage Assessment of the plant focusing on the 1911 powerhouse. Our team visited the site and assessed it in terms of its historical, engineering and architectural significance.
