PORTSMOUTH ROYAL NAVAL DOCKYARD
Portsmouth, United Kingdom, 1989–93
Lord Cultural Resources provided museological consultancy services to the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard Property Trust over a five-year period. Our original planning focused on the industrial history of this famous military heritage site, leading to subsequent plans to interpret concepts for the site, and develop a Master Plan and management policies for the heritage of this internationally significant site, home of the famed Henry VIII flagship Mary Rose, Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, and the first iron-sheathed ship of the line, HMS Warrior, as well as Britain's Royal Naval Museum. Over the decade of the 1990s, the Trust implemented most aspects of our plans, as illustrated in a booklet published by the Trust in 1996, and on their web site.
