SEATTLE ART MUSEUM
Washington, USA, 2001–02

Lord Cultural Resources was engaged by the Seattle Art Museum to conduct a year-long audience research study involving three primary research methodologies – community consultation, visitor/member surveys and focus groups with visitors and non-visitors of diverse cultural identities. The second phase of audience research initiated an in-gallery study of non-visitor and visitor responses to the innovative special exhibition of art from African – Long Steps Never Broke a Back – and the permanent collection galleries. This research was designed to assist the Museum in developing successful strategies to broaden and diversify audience participation.
