CARTHAGE, JERBA, KAIROUAN, SOUSSE
Tunisia, 2003–04

The Tunisia project is part of a World Bank loan financed programme designed to improve and upgrade the conservation and presentation of Tunisia's cultural heritage to a standard that will have an impact on the country's economy through sustainable growth in cultural tourism. Lord Cultural Resources planned for the future development of Carthage's Musée Archéologique de Carthage Byrsa (World Heritage Site), and the Musée des Arts Traditionnels et Populaires on the Island of Jerba. At Kairouan (World Heritage Site), we planned the layout of an interpretation centre adjacent to the Great Mosque, and at the Musée Archéologique de Sousse (World Heritage Site). For each site, an initial analysis of the collections and existing buildings was followed with a detailed market analysis leading to a facilities strategy, conceptual designs and recommendations for exhibitions management.
