In 2021, federal Members of Parliament voted unanimously to make August 1st Emancipation Day. It marks the actual day in 1834 that the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into effect across the British Empire.

We were thrilled to visit the re-designed and reinvigorated Bobby Orr Hall of Fame opening on July 19th. Our team has been working hard to bring refreshed exhibitions and experiences to the town of Parry Sound, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

On July 1st, the Chinese Canadian Museum in Vancouver, B.C. will open to the public. The museum serves as a testament to Chinese Canadian experiences, contributions and heritage while elevating and engaging with voices and communities across the country. The opening date is a significant one, as it is the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, the racist legislation that effectively stopped immigration from China for 24 years in Canada.
