Celebrating our time at the Canadian Museums Association Conference and Museums Canada Summit

Our team had a wonderful time at the two deeply meaningful gatherings, and we were so happy for the opportunity to connect. Here’s a recap of the exciting few days.

First off, our President and Co-Founder Gail Lord was appointed a CMA Fellow at the Canadian Museums Association National Conference at an incredibly moving ceremony. The honour is designated to individuals who have significantly contributed to the to the museum community, to the profession, and of course, to the CMA.

"Reconciliation through Partnership and Collaboration" panel at CMA

The Lord team also took part in the session “Reconciliation through Partnership and Collaboration” featuring panelists Lisa Wright (Lord Principal Consultant), Tim Johnson (Lord Indigenous Advisor and Misko-Aki Project Leader) and Rick Hill (Misko-Aki Indigenous Curator) speaking about the exhibition Misko-Aki (Red Earth): A Confluence of Cultures.

The Museums Canada Summit

Next up: The Museums Canada Summit, which featured a powerful keynote address from David Adames, CEO, Niagara Parks. Gail sat down with Sue-Ann Ramsden, Director, Strategic Initiatives, to launch the all-new 3rd edition of The Manual of Museum Management for Museums in Dynamic Change.

Dov Goldstein moderated the edusession “Our Business is Power,” exploring how museums can advocate successfully while delivering a powerful visitor experience to the diverse communities we serve. Panelists: Marie Chapman; Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21; Kaitlyn Dubeau, Timmins Museum and Exhibition Centre; Brian Groves, Heritage, Tourism and Culture, Yukon; Paul Sapounzi, +VG Architects

Niagara Parks Power Station

And finally, we headed to the Niagara Parks Power Station, where we surprised Gail with a celebration honouring her book and her 42 years leading Lord Cultural Resources.
