French Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 Promotes an Idea of the Market Hall as a Centre for Agricultural Production

We are proud to announce the opening of the French Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, designed by the architect agency X-TU and Adeline Rispal along with Lordculture. The French Pavilion design responds to the Expo theme "Feeding the Planet. Energy for life." by proposing a building based around a vision of the market hall as a centre for agricultural production. Lordculture was asked to develop the visitor’s experience, the key messages and the content of the outdoor and indoor permanent exhibition. Our scope of work included the organization of 20 meetings and workshops with scientists and partners of the French Ministry of Agriculture to determine and detail the topics and objects shown in the pavilion. Over 25 million visitors are expected to attend the exhibition centered around France's food production during its 6 months of operation.

François Hollande, Président of the French Republic, has stated: "In order to feed the world, all agricultures in all countries must become more mobilised, but we have undertaken this responsibility. We must help other countries produce more. Our agriculture plays a major role in the provision of agricultural products and the balance of global markets. It is my objective that we achieve this goal. France must contribute to feeding the world's population and act to ensure employment and thriving in our territories”.

By promoting agro-ecology and new technologies for precision agriculture, France demonstrates that innovation is not in contrast with the production of quality food, or the preservation of taste and traditions. This concept of "agriculture of tomorrow" will allow for an increase in the production of food products, while allowing to preserve natural resources.
