Chillida-Leku

2013

Chillida-Leku is one of the finest open air sculpture museums in the world. Located in the Basque Country in the north of Spain in a 13 hectare garden, Chillida-Leku displays a collection of over 40 large-scale sculptures by renowned 20th century artist Eduardo Chillida. The site also houses a 16th-century farmhouse that was restored by the artist himself to allocate part of the collection.

Lord Cultural Resources was brought on board in 2013 at the request of the Basque Government to develop a management model that set out several scenarios for public management and financing of Chillida-Leku. Through consultations with stakeholders, analysis of data, and comparables research, we developed a new concept for Chillida-Leku and a new governance model. We also made recommendations pertaining to operations, visitor services, programming, manpower needs, and projections of revenues and expenses.
