Project Experience

"Go Creative" Exhibition

2003

The National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) has the mandate for the development of science, technology and higher education in Trinidad and Tobago. The vehicle used for science popularisation is the NIHERST National Science Centre, the first of its kind in the Caribbean. The programmes of the centre seek to illustrate how science and technology permeate all aspects of daily life, and to reduce the barriers between science and society. NIHERST’s commitment to building its expertise in science popularisation, and its experience and technical know-how, particularly in exhibit design and construction, has positioned it as a unique institutional resource.

After receiving contact with Lord Cultural Resources’ popular exhibition “Go Creative” developed for the British Council in Hong Kong, NIHERST contracted Lord Cultural Resources for the planning, design and production of a “GO CREATIVE” style exhibition for the NIHERST Innovations Unit to be entitled “Innovation and Creativity”. The “GO CREATIVE” concept features popular characters as well as local and international scientists, inventors and artists to celebrate human creativity and ingenuity. The exhibition opened in 2004 in a new dedicated exhibition space at NIHERST, and has been a success with young Trinibagonos. “By showcasing some of our nation’s creative gems, we hope to honour their contributions and, moreover, inspire visitors – especially our nation’s youth – to Go Creative!”
