Luminato

2011

Luminato is a multi-arts festival whose vision is to commission and present significant local, national, and international programming that reflects Toronto as a diverse and accessible city. Every year, Luminato Festival transforms Toronto’s theatres, parks and public spaces with hundreds of events celebrating theatre, dance, music, literature, food, visual arts, magic, and film. Since its launch in 2007, Luminato Festival has become one of the preeminent arts festivals in North America, having commissioned over 66 new works of art, and featured 7,500 artists from 40 countries.

In April 2011, Luminato engaged Lord Cultural Resources to facilitate a comprehensive strategic planning process intended to ensure the future growth and sustainability of the Festival. The planning process was spearheaded by the Steering Committee and guided by Luminato’s Board members. Working closely with Luminato’s senior staff, Lord completed an extensive internal and external assessment to understand Luminato’s position, opportunities and challenges within a local, national and international context. Lord then facilitated a Board Retreat. The strategic direction resulting from the Board Retreat provided the foundation upon which the strategic plan was built. Lord then created an implementation plan for fulfilling the Festival’s new strategic direction over the following three years.
