Project Experience

National Veterans Memorial and Museum

2018

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) was conceptualized as a place to recognize and honor the experiences of American veterans. The opening of this new memorial and museum marks an important point in the nation’s history when all American veterans, from every branch of service, are honored for their service to the country, while inspiring others to contemplate the notion of service in the military, and in civilian life.

In order to provide visitors to NVMM on opening day and in the weeks after with a robust visitor experience, Lord Cultural Resources was engaged to develop four thematic tours to be delivered by NVMM staff and volunteers. The content and structure of the tours have been derived from the exhibit and building design, and are intended to encourage visitors to thoughtfully engage with the exhibition content as well as offer space for reflection.

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum officially opened to the public on October 27, 2018. The Grand Opening Ceremony and keynote was delivered by General Colin L. Powell.
