Turning Point Discovery Center

2020-21

The Turning Point Discovery Center (Turning Point) is dedicated to children who love to tinker, disassemble, invent and create. It will expose Trentonians to its rich African American history in a fun and exciting way, while advancing career opportunities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering/Architecture, Art, Math). The Center will be located in the heart of downtown Trenton and its programs will reach across the city. The 10,000 square foot building – complete with indoor and outdoor community space – will host interactive displays, hands-on STEAM educational activities designed specifically for young children, as well as a wide range of special events and family-friendly activities.

Turning Point hired Lord Cultural Resources (Lord) to facilitate the development of their programming, operations, and business plan. Lord Cultural Resources helped the client team develop the ideas for the space to prepare for future operations. Work included a concept brief the team used at public meetings, an educational plan, including public programming, and a business plan. The reports set the Center up for opening success, plan out their first five years of financial operations, and realize all the feasible possibilities of their organization.
