"It is a mass erasure of heritage,” said Adrian Scott Fine, chief executive of the Los Angeles Conservancy, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “We haven’t seen anything like this before.”
More than 12,000 structures have been destroyed or damaged. The Palisades and Eaton infernos have destroyed more than 30 structures that preservationists consider historically significant, and the number could continue to grow.
