Grand Egyptian Museum to Open by 2015

Construction is under way on main hall of new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) expected to open in August 2015 in Giza, Egypt. GEM will house the largest display of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the world, including treasures from the tomb of King Tutankhamun. The Museum lies on 117 acres of land (90,000 square meters) and is now in its third and final phase of construction, which began in January 2014. The construction costs of this phase alone approximated at $815 million. The last part of the massive construction project includes the museum’s main building as well as the landscape, parks and surrounding infrastructure.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided financial assistance and knowledge. Lord Cultural Resources is on the team of the joint venture between Hill International and EHAF Consulting Engineers to advise on design and tendering of the GEM exhibitions.
