Project Experience

The Franklin Institute
The Franklin Institute is one of the oldest centers of science education and development in the United States. As it enters its third century, the Institute has embarked on an ambitious planning process to secure its successful future as a public science institution. To date, work has been carried out to strengthen a renewed vision, mission, and institutional core values and staff planning capped off by a Board retreat in 2015.
In 2016, the Institute engaged Lord Cultural Resources to realize a 9-year strategic plan (2017-2024). Our scope of work considers the work already undertaken by Institute Board and Senior Staff; employed a guiding philosophy and approach that drives work with and through the leadership of the Institute, while engaging the whole of the Institute’s community (staff, stakeholders, community partners, peers); undertakes an environmental scan of the national and global science center landscape; takes a “deep dive” into all facets of The Franklin Institute’s collection of assets to assess strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and maps this suite of assets to the strategic objectives of the Plan; and finally considers new possible sources or streams of revenue resulting from the aforementioned asset study.
