Project Experience

Stadtmuseum Schlössli
The City of Aarau, Switzerland, commissioned Lord Cultural Resources to develop a master plan for the Stadtmuseum Schlössli including a new museum concept for this local history museum. The study included an analysis of current programmes and activities and a market analysis.
The Schlössli dates from the 13th century and is one of Aarau’s oldest buildings. The historic building not only reflects the local and regional municipal history but also on a national scale, for a short time Aarau served as the capital of Helvetia. Our work involved a close analysis of all aspects of the museum and its collections for which a new plan was presented. An important part of Lord Cultural Resources’ solution included a plan to create a dual function for the museum as an active community forum as well as a platform for the presentation of the city’s history. This concept has been developed in close cooperation with the museum commission and the city council.
