National Palace Museum - Southern Branch

2003-05

The National Palace Museum in Taipei was built over forty years ago to house and present the outstanding national collections of the Republic of China. It has established a reputation as one of the most important cultural institutions in the world with annual visitation of over 2 million. The collection contains over 650,000 magnificent works of art and the Ch’ing Dynasty Archives.

A jury of eight international and local experts chose Lord Cultural Resources as Planning and Development Consultants of its southern branch to in Chiayi County in south central Taiwan. Lord led a large team of experts from Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia to conduct comprehensive Master Planning and Functional Planning for not only the museum, but also the site itself, which is a cultural and environmental attraction. Lord also planned the international architectural competition for this project.

The Museum opened in December of 2015.
