U.S. Capitol Visitor Center

2016-17

U.S. Capitol Visitor Center’s 16,500 sq. ft. Exhibition Hall explores the story of the U.S. Congress and the Capitol.  As the Exhibition Hall approaches its ten-year anniversary, staff recognize that it is time to update the content and improve the visitor experience with the strategic goal to “engage visitors in meaningful experiences that impart a greater understanding of our democratic process and their role in it.”

Lord Cultural Resources is working with Capitol Visitor Center staff to revitalize the exhibition via a detailed interpretive planning study. The goal is to strengthen and revise the existing interpretation so that it aligns with and achieves the goals established by the Visitor Center and educate and inform visitors about the role of Congress in the American democratic process.
