Project Experience

Museo Nacional de Energía y Tecnología (MUNET)

2014-16

Museo Nacional De Energia Y Tecnologia (MUNET) will be the largest museum in the world dedicated to energy. An initiative of Mexico’s major energy company, PEMEX, and the government agency, CFE, the goal of MUNET will be to raise public awareness of the importance of energy in our daily lives and showcase the technological and environmental innovation and challenges the sector is facing today. MUNET will be a visitor- focused centre for education and outreach creating an open dialogue about the world of energy.

Lord Cultural Resources was commissioned in 2014 to first work with the project architect Enrique Norten to develop space planning and functional programming for the Museum. Our team also provided Facility planning in conjunctions with the development of the architectural plans. In addition, Lord worked closely with the client team, project architects and exhibit design team to develop a five-year business plan including all revenue and expense projections; human resources planning including staffing requirements and training; educational program planning; partnership development; and creating the policies and procedures that will guide the operations of the Museum.

The Educational Program Plan was linked to the Mexican curriculum, to the educational and programmatic goals of the Museum’s partner organizations, and to the interpretive approach of the Museum and its exhibitions and experiences. The final learning strategy is focused on assisting youth and their families in learning about science, energy and technology and preparing them to assist with the growth and development of Mexico’s creative economy. MUNET’s educational exhibitions, programs and events will also connect young people with career information and potential employers, and provides energy and related creative companies with a pool of potential talent that could fulfill their particular staffing needs. Our plan outlined the overall education program strategy for MUNET, indicating the basic program types to be offered in each component, as well as the nature of learning in each component.
