Project Experience

Tank Museum

2004-05

Lord Cultural Resources was appointed by the staff and trustees of the Tank Museum at Bovington to assist them in the preparation and development of a Stage One Heritage Lottery Fund Application for their Designated Collection. Our work involved ongoing general advice on the content and structure of the application, reviewing business plans, and specific elements of developing the Audience Development Plan, Education Policy and Training Plan.

This application was successful in gaining approval for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £8.25 million.

“For a museum like ours to be awarded an HLF grant of £8.25m is no mean achievement but it could not have been achieved without the Lord team’s knowledge, professionalism and dedication. They have been great fun to work with and have shown considerable tact and patience when leading us through the project development process.”

John Woodward, Director of the Tank Museum

Subsequently, Lord Cultural Resources was commissioned by the Tank Museum to help them prepare a Stage Two application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Our team assisted in key areas: helping commission new visitor research, developing the audience development plan and marketing strategy, and drafting the project executive summary. The second round application was extremely successful and the grant on offer to the Tank Museum was increased by more than a million pounds to £9.4 million.
