International Museum Day 2025
May 18th is International Museum Day, established by ICOM in 1977 to not only celebrate museums, but to remember the essential role they play in our communities. (You can learn more about the day’s history here.)
Each year, International Museum Day highlights a united theme, inviting museums to engage their communities in meaningful ways and showcase their evolving role in addressing contemporary issues. This year’s theme, The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities, focuses on how museums can navigate and contribute to a world undergoing profound social, technological and environmental shifts.
To discover IMD events happening near you, please visit the interactive map, or check out the #IMD2025 hashtag on social media. We're thrilled to see so many past and present clients around the world honouring and celebrating the day. You’ll find special exhibitions, exciting public programs and innovative digital experiences happening all around the globe. Last year saw over 8,000 registered events and more than 50 translations of the official poster, underlining the initiative’s global reach.
In honor of International Museum Day, Lord salutes all of the trailblazing museums and cultural organizations we've had the privilege of supporting, which provide vital creative engagement services and advocacy across our communities.
