Port of Long Beach Corporate Visitor Center

2020– 2022

The Port of Long Beach spans 3,200 acres and 25 miles of waterfront in Long Beach, California. In 2021, the Port Headquarters relocated to a new administrative building shared with City Hall in the historic Lincoln Park area.

Lord Cultural Resources joined a team to develop a corporate visitor center showcasing the Port’s activities and achievements. We created a thematic framework emphasizing innovation in sustainability, community partnerships, operational successes, and key project developments.

Working alongside exhibit designers Tessellate, we designed the center around a large-scale 3D Port map, complemented by:

  • A digital map table of global shipping routes
  • An innovation showcase with animated elements and 3D-printed models
  • A touchless interactive wall featuring Port stories and infographics
  • Large-scale photography, a timeline, and workforce stories highlighting the Port’s impact and legacy

Digital exhibits supported both guided and self-guided experiences, ensuring accessibility for diverse visitors. Our team collaborated closely with Communications, Business Development, Media Relations, and the Executive Committee to refine narratives, align content with the Port’s brand, and enhance visitor engagement. Through facilitated discussions, content reviews, and visioning workshops, we ensured community representation across the 8,000 sq. ft. space, spotlighting major partners and stakeholders throughout Long Beach.
