C.N. Gorman Museum

2017

In 2017, Lord Cultural Resources was retained by the C.N. Gorman Museum at U.C. Davis to complete a detailed Facility Strategy and space program for its relocation to a new location on campus. Through the planning process, and engagement with various campus stakeholders, the Gorman is part of a coalition of campus stakeholders hoping to create a transformational and vibrant zone where visitors can truly engage all their senses - with visual arts, theatre, dance, performance, arboretum collections and gardens.  More than a simple move or renovation, this project seeks to undertake new construction, and unique design and re-design, to create an exceptional museum with the highest museum standards and practices to engage with contemporary Native American and Indigenous art and serve as the primary point of engagement for this re-envisioned area of campus.
