Project Experience

Dresden Zwinger
The Vermögens- und Hochbauamt (State Building Department) of Dresden commissioned Lord Cultural Resources to analyze visitor access and circulation in one of Dresden’s foremost tourist attractions: the Dresden Zwinger. The Zwinger was originally constructed in the early 18th century as an orangery and festival place. Since the 1730s it has been used as a museum for the collections of August II. Today the Zwinger houses four renowned collections: the Gallery of Old Masters, the Porcelain Collection, the Armoury and the Mathematical-Physical Salon. The yard is also used for small and large outdoor concerts and festivities in the summer months.
Lord Cultural Resources analyzed the use of outdoor and indoor spaces, visitor circulation, access both physical and intellectual, and developed recommendations to make the ensemble more accessible to domestic and foreign tourists.
