Little White House Museum

2003-04

Located in Warm Springs, Georgia, is Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Little White House – the state’s largest and most visited historic site. The Little White House is the centerpiece of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ efforts to preserve and interpret FDR’s historic contributions and connection to the town of Warm Springs. In its continuing efforts to meet the mission of the museum and historic site, the Department has redeveloped the Little White House site and museum with the goal of bringing FDR and his life at Warm Springs to a whole new generation of Americans.

Lord Cultural Resources was contracted to provide interpretive planning, curatorial coordination, design, and project management services for the permanent exhibits at the new visitor center. The installations include a variety of exhibit techniques, such as stunning artifact displays, graphics, hands-on interactive displays and audio-visual productions. Together, they work effectively to tell the story of FDR, the Little White House and the development of an entire nation.

The visitor center opened successfully on April 12, 2004. The permanent exhibition is a testament to FDR’s commitment to accessibility as every display includes Braille, audio and captioning for the equal enjoyment of all.
