Project Experience

Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island

2006-08

Lord Cultural Resources was engaged by the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) in Abu Dhabi in 2006, to provide a wide range of museum planning services for the cultural institutions that were to form the heart of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District.

Building upon a preliminary architectural program concept, Lord Cultural Resources was commissioned to refine the space program and provide a Concept Plan and a Facilities Strategy for the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Subsequently, Lord Cultural Resources was asked to advise on the governance structure of the museum. We continued our work with the cultural planning for Saadiyat Island and by completing the initial master plan for the Zayed National Museum (2008), scheduled to begin construction in December. Our Master Plan served as the basis for the international architectural and exhibition design competitions that followed.

After more than 10 years in the making, the Louvre Abu Dhabi opened on November 11, 2017, becoming the first Universal Museum in the Arab world. ‎Lord Cultural resources is very proud to have contributed to the development of this great museum.
