Project Experience

Punta Della Dogana

2007-09

Architect Tadao Ando designed a new contemporary arts centre in Venice for luxury goods manufacturer François Pinault. The project converted the historic Punta della Dogana building into a space for part of the François Pinault collection.

The new facility provides a second exhibition space in Venice for contemporary art from the François Pinault Collection, as well as works of 20th century Venetian art. Lordculture, the European company of Lord Cultural Resources, was appointed by Palazzo Grassi to provide the facility program for this project, which served as the basis for Ando’s transformation of this historic structure.

The facility opened to the public on June 6th 2009 during the Venice Art Biennale.
