Town of St. Marys Cultural Plan

2013

The Town of St. Marys is located near London in southwestern Ontario. Known as the home of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, the Town benefits from its location near limestone deposits that provided building materials for many of the heritage buildings in the downtown core and elsewhere.

In 2012 the Town of St. Marys asked Lord Cultural Resources to develop a Cultural Plan that not only maximizes the quality of life and economic benefits of the Town’s many cultural and heritage assets, but which also provides an actionable way forward for the Town to do so while retaining and expanding its large and indispensible volunteer base. We conducted interviews with key individuals in the Town, facilitated several public meetings, and developed an online survey, all of which provided valuable input for the cultural planning process.

The final Cultural Plan provides a detailed roadmap for building a richer cultural scene in St. Marys.  It includes directions for transforming the Town’s many cultural assets into cultural products ready for engagement by residents and tourists.
