National Museum of Singapore

1990-95

The National Museum of Singapore engaged the services of Lord Cultural Resources to prepare a Master Plan for the National Museum Precinct. We recommended that the Museum Precinct governance structure be replaced with a National Heritage Board, a recommendation that was accepted.

The Master Plan was implemented with the establishment of the National Heritage Board and three constituent museums – the Singapore Art Museum, the Singapore History Museum and the Asian Civilisations Museum – for all of which Lord Cultural Resources produced Functional Briefs and other planning documents. Subsequently, on Lord Cultural Resources’ recommendation, the National Heritage Board established the Heritage Conservation Centre in the Jurong district of Singapore. We also provided a detailed Functional Brief for this collection management facility, which now provides state-of-the-art documentation, conservation and collection management facilities for Singapore’s national collections.
