Natural History Museum

In 2019, Lord Cultural Resources was selected by a major government authority in the UAE to conceptualize a new destination museum focused on Natural History. The approximately 35,000 sqm facility was planned to include permanent and temporary exhibition spaces, an education suite, immersive digital theatre, and research facility.

Our work at the pre-concept stage analyzed feasibility and provided a variety of visitor experience options. We started the process with a two-day vision workshop with the client team and Subject Matter Experts who are senior staff at leading natural history museums in Europe and North America. The findings from the workshop proposed interpretation which balanced natural history stories of Afro-Arabia and the World and in consideration of other institutions in the vicinity.

As well, our work included recommended strategies for collection acquisitions, a children’s museum, and education and public programming. Now proceeding through the final design stages, the project is proceeding to contracting on time and on budget.
