Project Experience

The Laundromat Project
The Laundromat Project (The LP) is a cultural organization deeply embedded in its Brooklyn community. Its mission is to advance artists and neighbors as change agents in their own communities. Since its beginning (reaching back to 1999), The LP has centered the voices, cultures, imaginations, knowledge, and leadership of people of color (POC) and POC-Centered Principles are core to the organization. Lord Cultural Resources partnered with the Laundromat Project to facilitate a strategic planning process from March 2023 to March 2024.
The project aimed to develop a comprehensive plan with the active participation of the LP staff and Board. A collaborative approach was central to the project. Lord Cultural Resources employed various techniques to ensure staff and Board input throughout the planning process, fostering a sense of ownership and engagement.
This collaborative effort resulted in a strategic plan that reflects the collective vision and goals of the Laundromat Project. Central to the plan is ensuring the LP stay centered on catalyzing creativity as a source for positive social change, and creating more equitable, sustainable communities and opportunities for wellbeing in communities of color, particularly given rapid changes in Brooklyn. The plan will guide the organization's future endeavors and ensure its continued success.
