Toronto's Harbourfront's early days buzzed with excitement and events, but that energy has faded badly. Only big and bold moves will allow the waterfront to live up to its potential and solve the organization’s long-term difficulties. 

“A recent survey by Waterfront Toronto indicated that when compared to great waterfront cities, our waterfront is a woeful underperformer without a single major cultural, recreational or entertainment destination. Most comparable cities have 10 or more.” - Toronto Star, June 19, 2025

Every year to celebrate Women’s History Month, we highlight influential women who are driving meaningful change and shaping the future. This year we are shining a light on women who have made outstanding contributions to the independent foundation sector and the deeply important work they do, and asked them how they stay positive in these challenging times.

Based on the book by eminent film historian Donald Bogle, this four-part series reveals the often-hidden history of Black cinema and the foundational influence of multitudes of Black filmmakers, actors, actresses, directors, producers and other cast and crew."

“We recently visited Jackson, Mississippi as part of our ongoing work with the National Park Service and had the profound opportunity to visit the Medgar Evers National Monument, the home where Medgar Evers lived with his family and where he was tragically assassinated in 1963."
