2016 Construction Project of the Year

The Etihad Museum was selected as the Construction Project of the Year at the Construction Week Awards in 2016.

The Etihad Museum tells story of the unification of the Emirates according to the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the leaders of the other Emirates that formerly made up the Trucial States. Lord was honoured to provide interpretive planning, content development and exhibition design services including site supervision for RTA for almost 3000 square metres of permanent exhibition, and most recently Lord has developed the ‘Road Map’ to opening study, structuring the museums organization and internal development.

2015 Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Award of Excellence in Publications

The Manual of Museum Exhibitions, Second Edition, has been honoured with the 2015 Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Award of Excellence in Publications on November 6, 2015. Edited by Barry Lord, Co-President, and Maria Piacente, Vice President of Lord Cultural Resources.

December 2014- Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres

Gail Dexter Lord appointed Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French Government.

International Achievement Award 2011

During the CMA National Conference in London, Ontario, ICOM Canada awarded Gail and Barry Lord the International Achievement Award 2011 for promoting excellence in Canadian museology on an international scale. ICOM Canada has recognized Lord Cultural Resources' projects as nationally and internationally significant and exceeding the current standard of practice.

2010-2011- Ontario House Pavilion has won three design awards.

Ontario House Pavilion for the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics Winter Games was open from February 12 to March 1, 2010. Since then the project has won three design awards.

  • Gold for the Interior Design Temporary/Portable Category by the Design Exchange, November 2010
  • 2011 Design Excellence by Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)
  • 2011 Azure People’s Choice Award for "Architecture – Temporary and Demon
2006 Award of Recognition – Project Collaborator

2006- Lord Cultural Resources received the 2006 Award of Recognition – Project Collaborator from the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario for work on the exhibition at Bloorview Kids Rehab in Toronto

October 2002- Ontario Museum Association Award of Excellence

Ontario Museum Association Award of Excellence to Gail and Barry Lord for Lifetime Achievement in the Museum field in Ontario.
